ColourMe Wellies – Lifestyle Advert
el RHEY required a promotional video to assist with the launch of the new ColourMe Wellies range. They believed in the importance of encouraging creativity in children during early stages of development. The colour-in wellies are a fun way to encourage creativity.
Our concept was simple. We felt it was important to show the children using the wellies in a real environment. The film tells the story of a family and their friends going to the park, colouring-in the wellies, and then using them on the beach.
We kept the tone of the promotional film happy and colourful, using imagery like fresh fruit, football, and sandcastles to associate colour with the el Rhey brand.
We filmed over one day – filming the picnic sequence in the early afternoon, and the beach scene late afternoon. It was shot on a Sony FS700 paired up with the Odyssey 7Q, which gave us 240fps at 2K raw. This meant we had great colour control, using ‘Blackmagic Design Davinci Resolve’ to grade the footage. We had a basic lighting setup, using largely natural lighting, but occasionally used 1x 1 LED panels to lift the subject from the background.

We wanted to produce a fun, out-going story of children and their families using the wellies on a day out. Luckily for us, we’re based a mile from Bournemouth’s gardens and beach. This was a perfect location to show the products in a natural environment, and allowed the children to interact and engage with the wellies.
